Robert James Fischer, born in Chicago in 1943, is considered the most restless and enigmatic king of chess. The energetic style of the former child prodigy resembled that of "a murderer on the chessboard": an incredible determination and a fierce urge to eliminate everything that stands in his way. He single-handedly defeated the entire Soviet chess elite, which made him an admired hero, especially in the USA during the Cold War.
