Carlsen made a decisive contribution to his team's success with his 5 out of 6, including a win against Vincent Keymer. Vincent Keymer, playing for Novy Bor, finished second with his team and scored a strong 5 out of 7. This also earned him almost 7 Elo points, making him the world's number 24 live and firmly established in the 2700 club. At the moment there only seems to be one direction for him and that is uphill! Let's hope he maintains this trend.
The tournament in Albania was overshadowed by suspected contaminated water, which kept many players in their beds and even forced players to sit out, resulting in some games being played without a fight. However, this had no impact on the overall result.
