Chess Concrete is a new series of books on chess openings. These are not theory books in the traditional sense, but a series of lessons from a chess expert who has extensive practical experience as a tournament player in the opening being discussed. You will gain a solid understanding of the opening and the types of middlegame that result from it, and in this way you will find the right plans and moves in your own games. It is as if you are sitting at the board with a top-class chess coach who will answer your questions about the plans for both sides, the ideas behind certain moves, and the knowledge you absolutely must master.

- 25 current, instructive and extensively discussed sample games

- Introductions to the individual chapters with descriptions of the key points

- Complete game and variation index

- Detailed verbal explanation of the various plans and maneuvers

The Queen's Indian Defense is an important and popular opening at any level of play. Black's flexible position allows him to choose between a range of solid and dynamic structures. White, in turn, can react flexibly by either opposing Black's fianchetto or trying to speed up the tempo by engaging in a scuffle in the center. It is an opening with many subtleties, and many of the modern main lines involve moves that look extravagant but are underpinned by a deep fundamental logic.
