About the author
Alexei Shirov was born on July 4, 1972 in Riga, Latvia. The world star, who now plays for Spain, quickly won the titles of International Master and International Grand Master. As a young man, Shirov broke into the world elite with his outstanding results and consolidated his place in the top ten. In 2000, he became Vice World Champion.
