About the Book
In this updated English edition, Christian Seel presents a complete repertoire against 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3, based on the Antoshin Variation of the Philidor Defence (1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 d6 3. d4 exd4 4.Nxd4 Nf6 5.Nc3 Be7). Underestimated for a long time, this line is now a solid component in the repertoire of world-class grandmasters such as Aronin, Bacrot and Nispeanu. Seel sets out the latest state play in all important lines, with thoroughly strategic and tactical explanations and is not afraid to betray some of the secrets from his own analysis lab.
The preface of this book was written by European Champion Liviu-Dieter Nisipeanu.

Reviews (of the German edition)
"The ingredients that one usually expects from a good opening book are certainly there: many examples from recent times (2000-2005); plenty of own analyses and recommendations that should give the reader a head start on the board; an appropriate ratio between variations and Explanation." G. Treppner, Rochade Europa 2/2006
"Overall, the quality of this book is of a very high standard with regard to author input, original analysis, improvements over existing theory, explanatory prose and even production value." C. Hansen, ChessCafe.com
"Overall, this is a remarkable first work that gives us hope for the future. The linguistic style is also remarkably refreshing for an opening book." Schachmarkt 2/2006
