The Sicilian Tajmanov-Scheveningen

For decades, the Sicilian has been considered the most reliable defense against 1.e4 when Black is aiming for an unbalanced but good position. At the top level, the Najdorf and Paulsen Variations stand out. But the Paulsen Sicilian is safer and more positional than the Najdorf Variation, because Black gets enough counterplay in all variations without having to engage in an all-or-nothing attack. This DVD shows the strengths of the Paulsen Sicilian, but points out transitions to the Scheveningen System when Black benefits from them. Anand, Topalov, Morozevich, Ivanchuk, Grischuk, Leko, Svidler, Jakovenko, Polgar and countless other grandmasters have played the Paulsen Variation and achieved excellent results. The theory presented on this DVD is up to date; the majority of the games analyzed were played at the highest level: at the World Cup in Tromsø in 2013.
