This book is for those who know the rules of chess and want to start winning chess games.

The fastest way to improve in chess is to learn chess tactics. However, it is not enough to just know the topics - you have to get used to applying them in real games. John Nunn , a master of tactics, has carefully put together a course that will give you valuable and fundamental knowledge and invites you to start looking for tactical ideas yourself.

Chess Tactics for Kids Workbook is the first in a new series of books that help players gain chess knowledge by solving hundreds of carefully selected exercises. The topics are very similar to those in Gambit's best-selling Chess for Kids series, but the emphasis here is on important practical experience. Many positions build on previous ones, and it is shown that advanced ideas usually consist of simple elements that we can all understand.

Each chapter introduces a basic theme and includes dozens of exercises with solutions that reinforce the key points. Each chapter gives tips on what to look for to find tactical ideas. As the chapters progress, we see ideas being combined, with ideas from previous sections appearing repeatedly as part of a one-two punch. The book ends with a series of six tests that contain no reference to the theme.

Dr John Nunn is one of the most respected figures in the chess world. He has been one of the leading grandmasters in the world for nearly twenty years and has won four gold medals at Chess Olympiads. In 2004, 2007 and 2010 he was crowned World Problem Solving Champion, ahead of many previous champions.
