Adrian Mikhalchishin , born in 1954 in Lvov, grandmaster since 1978, is currently one of the five best trainers in the world and is chairman of the FIDE trainers commission. In the 1980s, the Ukrainian coached the national teams of the USSR, Slovenia, Poland and the Netherlands. In addition Mikhalchishin was Anatoly Karpov's coach (1980-1986) and also coached Zsuzsa Polgar, Alexander Beliavsky, Maja Chiburdanidze, Arkadij Naiditsch and Vassily Ivanchuk.
