The Barry Attack

Not quite London System and not quite Veresov. The unusual name 'Barry Attack' lies somewhere between these two variations. Another challenging Queen Pawn opening that Black must prepare for. In fact, the 'Barry Attack' had its origins as early as 1922 when Tartakower experimented with this then unknown opening, but the opening only came back into fashion in the late 1970s and 1980s when a number of strong players such as Niaz Murshed and several top English players began to win game after game with this opening.
