In chess, as in real life, you are often faced with certain temptations: should you capture a pawn, occupy an open line, launch an attack on the kingside, and so on? In principle, such ideas are not wrong, but whether they lead to success in a particular situation must be carefully examined. However, chess is complicated, and it is not always possible to make decisions based on concrete calculations. This is where knowledge of basic rules and principles helps to distinguish what you want to play and what you should play. To make the right choice, you have to set the right priorities depending on the phase of the game and the situation. This DVD series is intended to give you the basics of healthy game management and help you to recognize priorities.
Power Strategy 1 - From the opening into the middle game
This first volume deals with the opening phase. Here, one principle is more important than all the others: development! Anyone who neglects this and instead chases after some kind of castle in the air will lose their game. In the video lessons, Grandmaster Mihail Marin shows a variety of different types of positions in the opening phase and explains how to implement the principle of development. In a supplementary database you will find many additional sample games. After work comes the pleasure: with interactive test videos you can test your newly acquired knowledge and then be well prepared for the real situation at the board.
• Video game time: 4 hours 50 minutes (German)
• Interactive final test with video feedback
• Exclusive database with 50 sample attack games

Power Strategy 2 - The Middlegame - static positions
As in real life, chess is always tempting you to take a pawn, occupy an open file, launch a king attack, and so on. In principle, there is little to object to, but before taking such concrete steps, you should be sure that the position is ripe for it. Chess is so complicated that calculation alone is often not enough to find the right move. General rules and principles then help us to distinguish what we would like to do from what we can actually do. In other words, it is about setting priorities correctly. This DVD series shows how important good old principles are when you have to decide which direction to take the game in and then start the concrete calculations. The second DVD in the Power Strategy series deals with middle game positions in which static factors dominate, although dynamic and tactical elements can also play a role. The videos are interactive and ask training questions at the critical moments of the games. With the help of a supplementary database and games on all the topics presented, you can further deepen your knowledge and improve your skills.
• Training videos: 4 hours 28 minutes
• Interactive training with video feedback
• 41 commented games, some with training questions!
• With CB 12 – Reader
