The problem chess original prints from the Augsburger Allgemeine Zeitung 2014 - 2019

While volumes I to IV cover the supposed period from the publication of the first original print in 1954 to October 2014, this volume covers the tasks published from then until the end of 2019. The time period is "supposed" because research by chess friends Günter Brunold (Obergünzburg) and Rudolf Martin (Kempten) revealed that the first chess corner of the Schwäbische Landeszeitung, the predecessor of the AZ, appeared on September 3, 1948. More information about this can be found in the appendix to this book.

Since the range of chess problems in the AZ Chess Corner takes the readers' understanding of chess into account, this volume - like the previous volumes - contains a mix of easier and more difficult chess problems. The vast majority of the problems have in common that they come from the area of orthodox problems with the requirement "mate in n moves". The auxiliary mate problems and chess puzzles, which are more reserved for specialists, only make up a small proportion of the chess problems offered.

The aim of the presentation is to convey the joy of solving chess problems independently, despite the influence of chess programs and databases. Since solving chess problems can sometimes be difficult, the author has described the solution to each problem thoroughly and in detail. This enables chess fans to follow the thought process of the problem chess composer.

This volume also reports that the history of the AZ chess corner needs to be rewritten. The original problem chess prints published between 1948 and 1954 are included here.

Solving the tasks will be fun. The author, who has been leading the AZ chess column since January 1, 1989, is convinced of this.
