This book has the clear objective of helping learners to build confidence in their own abilities through specially tailored teaching content and numerous exercises.

Since players in this target group do not (or do not yet!) think like chess masters, they will quickly realize when they look at master games that these usually look very different from their own. They will also repeatedly come across moves that they do not understand, which raise questions that they cannot find answers to without help.

In order to avoid this danger of being overwhelmed, in almost all of the games in this book at least one player is a representative of the target group, which can be roughly described as 'still well on this side of the magical sound barrier of Elo 2000'.

Accordingly, the reader will 'feel at home' because he is familiar with how players of this level react in certain critical positions and how a more or less large advantage often changes sides because mistakes are made that are typical for this level of play. And those who learn from the mistakes of others learn painlessly!
