The Queen's Gambit Accepted: A Repertoire for Black
In this DVD, Sam Collins presents a repertoire for Black based on the Queen's Gambit Accepted, 1.d4 d5 2.c4 dxc4. Rather than delving into the heavy theory of the Classical Main Line, the central point of his recommendations after 3.Nf3 Nf6 4.e3 is the active development of the Queen's Bishop with 4...Bg4, a system that has been regularly used by several GMs, including Miles and Kogan. The resulting positions are very similar to the Nimzo-Indian and Slav Defenses, respectively, and Collins explains how Black can confidently approach the middlegame based on a blockade and a light-squared strategy. The reply to the popular 3.e3 is 3...e5, followed by active development. The most ambitious option available to White, 3.e4, is met with 3…Nc6, a long-standing favorite of GMs Baburin and Stevic, which gives Black splendid tactical opportunities to dismantle White's center. Last but not least, gambit lines with Nc3 and the positional approach with early Qa4+ are also covered. The resulting repertoire is solid, reliable, and suitable as both a main weapon and an occasional surprise weapon. Video time: 3 hrs 30 mins (English)
