To this day, he is one of the few players in the world to have a 100% result against Kasparov. He was a key figure in the English team that won three silver medals at Chess Olympiads in the 1980s and was the team's captain in 1994. He is a former owner and editor-in-chief of the British Chess Magazine and the author of several successful chess books.
