The "Berlin Wall", also known as the "Berlin Defense", is one of the most solid and frequently played openings of the 21st century. It became popular after the World Championship match between Kramnik and Kasparov in London 2000, because it helped Kramnik to win the match and become world champion. Kramnik's choice of this variation signaled a departure from the dynamic and romantic style of the 20th century to a more pragmatic, defensive and long-term approach. The DVD is divided into two parts. In the first part we look at what happens when White rejects the "Berlin endgame" and chooses "anti-Berlin" systems. The second part deals with the "Berlin endgame". Recently White has been avoiding the Berlin endgame more and more often and has been playing "anti-Berlin" systems - because in the main line of the Berlin Defense White simply cannot find anything. This also shows how strong the variation is! The endgame should be understood as a demanding and complex position type that offers many possibilities and also contains tactical tricks. Studying the Berlin Defense automatically leads to a better understanding of the endgame. The DVD also contains a series of exercises that help to successfully apply the Berlin Defense in practice. The DVD is aimed at a broad audience - beginners as well as experienced and good players. Play the Berlin Defense - let your opponent rack his brains and find an answer to the question "what should I play against it?"!
