It is never too late for Nimzo-Indian
It took a long time for Viktor Bologans to find the Nimzo-Indian, and it was a difficult path. The grandmaster from Moldova regrets this today. "I should have started when I was young. At first I only played the King's Indian against 1.d4, later I learned the Knight's Tango, which already contained some elements of the Nimzo-Indian, and it was not until the new millennium that I added the opening itself to my repertoire." That was the time when he won the Dortmund tournament in 2003, among other things, thanks to a black draw against Vladimir Kramnik in a Nimzo-Indian with 4.Qc2. The Moldovan GM recommends this opening for players of all classes. "The opening is complex and simple at the same time. It teaches something very important in chess - how to play with a knight against a bishop. I would say that Nimzo-Indian has the same meaning as Spanish after 1.e4." On the DVD, Bologan gives you a clear plan of how to play against 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 e6 3.Nc3. Video time: 4 hours 14 minutes (English)
