The largest chess open in Europe is currently taking place in the Schwarzwaldhalle Karlsruhe . After a five-year break due to the pandemic, the GRENKE Chess Open began on March 28 with 2,551 players in three different categories. At the same time, the GRENKE Chess Classic will be held with six stars, including Magnus Carlsen and Vincent Keymer. The tournament director is Sven Noppes from the Chess Tigers.
With so many visitors, the Chess Tigers are making sure to have a large sales stand. Chess sets, clocks, various books and all kinds of chess items are on offer. Anyone taking a break from playing can browse to their heart's content. IM Jonathan Carlstedt is available on site to give advice.
