Original and aggressive: 1...b6 for practical players

The move 1...b6, the Owen Defense, is part of a series of systems that are complex but little researched. A good way to leave the beaten theoretical path early and present the opponent with new and difficult problems. This often involves rearrangements to other variations and structures, which makes this opening an ideal weapon for playing for a win with Black against theoretically experienced opponents. On this DVD, Nigel Davies shows how variations with ...b6 enrich the French repertoire (for example after 1.d4 e6 2.c4 b6!?), and how Black can answer the moves 1.Nf3 and 1.c4. Davies also shows that 1...b6 is also a good weapon against 1.e4 if you want to win and are not afraid of taking risks.
